We feel our teams can maintain a safe environment as most conservatories are separated from the house, have a good circulation of fresh air, and can be accessed through the garden. The teams are also supplied with PPE and can maintain distancing from households when communication is necessary.

Close-cut Victorian roof

Our skilled tradesmen can give your new tiled Victorian roof that extra wow factor with close-cut mitred tiles. This provides a neat, clean and sharp edge at the hip junction as opposed to using traditional ridge tiles.
The tiles are layered with a damp proof membrane fishtail that acts as a secrete soaker between them along the cut lines.

Why are U-values important?

U-values express the rate of heat transfer through any element of a building, such as a wall, roof or window. The units used to express U-values are watts per m² Kelvin (W/m²K). This means that if a roof had a U-value of 1.0 W/m²K, for every degree of temperature difference between the air on the surface inside the roof and the air on the surface outside, 1 watt of heat would pass through any m² of the roof.

The lower the U-value is, the better the insulation provided by the material. Read more

The linked article from the Property Advice section from The Telegraph gives some interesting information on the usefulness of a conservatory and urges caution on the practice of under and over cladding an existing roof, for multiple reasons.

They advise removing the glazing altogether and fitting a proper roof, which is exactly what we do at Oakdene Roofs!

GRP Waterproofing System training course

We recently attended a GRP Waterproofing System training course held by Cure It, the UK’s leading GRP flat roofing system provider.

This course has helped develop our extensive knowledge of flat roofing techniques, enabling us to provide a range of new rainwater gulley’s to eliminate the need for a box guttering which are intrusive into the conservatory. This seamless system looks like a traditional lead gulley yet has all the benefits of a modern fibreglass system.
